‘Walking and Wellness Weekend’
November 8th – 10th 2019
If you’re in need of some time to truly switch off and to focus on your own well-being then this weekend could be exactly what’s needed.
This retreat takes us to the stunning landscape of Cumbria & the Yorkshire Dales National Park for a weekend of nature’s finest. Treat yourself to a weekend of long carefree walking with a group of like minded women, enjoying delicious plant based cuisine and relaxing with some gorgeous candlelit restorative yoga.
What’s included in the package…
A full day of guided walking in the magnificent Yorkshire Dales National Park. A chance to breath in that fresh air, reconnect with nature and totally unwind.
The Yorkshire Dales makes for the perfect place for a day spent walking in the great outdoors with it’s endless valleys, dry stone walls and meandering country lanes. Grab your walking boots and your camera and forget about everything else for a whole day!
You’ll also have the option of indulging in daily restorative yoga sessions during your weekend with our amazing yoga expert Elaine Smith. The perfect way to stretch off those tired limbs and unwind after a day out on the hills.
Two nights full board accommodation at the fantastic St. Mark’s Stays in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
St. Mark’s Stays is a gorgeous character filled house in the stunning landscape of Cumbria & the Yorkshire Dales National Park situated just three miles from the historic town of Sedburgh. It has been lovingly converted into a comfortable and luxurious venue just perfect for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Each room is uniquely designed and has it’s own beautiful en-suite bathroom. Each room will host two guests on a twin sharing basis.
All of your meals and snacks for the duration of your stay will be included in the price of the retreat and will be lovingly prepared by your host, former cookery teacher and certified holistic health coach Paula Lawson. All meals will be plant based and organic wherever possible.
Paula will also be leading a group coaching session during the weekend including a juicing and cooking demonstration ensuring that you leave us with an abundance of practical ideas to help you in continuing to prioritise your well-being once you return home.
Meet Your Host:
Paula Lawson is a certified health and wellness coach and is the founder of Be Happy, Be Bright, Be You. She is passionate about helping women to realise their own self worth and the importance of prioritising their well-being. Paula fell in love with hiking and adventure back in 2013 after a week long holiday in the Lake District and has never looked back.

Paula creates her retreats to share in her love of the outdoors and her passion for plant based food. Many women return year upon year to simply take some well needed quality time to reconnect to themselves.
Guests will arrive from 4.30pm onwards on the Friday. Take some time to get yourself settled in to your room and then join us in the lounge for a cuppa and a slice of cake. Meet and chat to your host, Paula as well as take some time to get to know your fellow guests.
At approx 6.00pm there will be the option of a restorative yoga session before we sit down together for a delicious evening meal and toast to a fabulous weekend ahead. The rest of the evening is then yours to sit and relax or simply enjoy some quiet time with a good book.
Saturday morning will begin with a delicious freshly prepared breakfast at around 8.30am.After breakfast we will head out into the Yorkshire Dales National Park for a full day of guided walking. If this is a new experience for you then you will quickly realise why it is one of my favourite past times and why I often find myself craving being back on the hills.
We will also be taking time to enjoy a leisurely packed lunch at some point, which will have been prepared for you. Bring your camera as you’ll not want to miss the many fantastic photo opportunities. We will head back to the house for around 4.00pm to enjoy another relaxing restorative candelit yoga session with Elaine before sitting down to dinner at around 7.30pm.
Sunday morning begins with a juice making and tasting masterclass at 8.30am before we enjoy another freshly prepared breakfast at around. Then take an hour or so of free time to simply sit back and enjoy the view.
At around 10.00am we will then cosy up in the lounge for a two hour health coaching session with Paula. At 12.00 take the opportunity to enjoy a final yoga session with Elaine before sitting down to our final meal together at 1.30. The retreat will officially finish at 3pm.
Do I need to be an experienced walker to take part in the retreat?
Not at all. The walk is designed so that ladies who are new to walking may also participate. We would recommend that in order to fully enjoy the experience participants should be able to comfortably to walk 10miles on flat ground (approx 4 hours) without any real concerns.
Will I need to bring any specialist equipment for the walking?
A recommended packing list will be provided but we would recommend that you ensure you have a comfortable pair of good quality walking boots, a good waterproof jacket and a rucksack for carrying your lunch as well as some water.
Will I need to provide my own bedding?
All bedding and towels are provided.
How will I get there?
The address for the bunkhouse is ST MARKS STAYS, CAUTLEY, SEDBERGH, CUMBRIA LA10 5LZ . The guesthouse is just off the main road but is well signposted. There is plenty of parking on site.
The nearest train station is Oxenholme. A taxi from Oxenholme station to St. Mark’s Stays costs approximately £30.00
Are you able to cater for special dietary requirements?
ll of the food available during your stay will prepared fresh and will be vegan/gluten free. Should you have any additional dietary requirements we will do our very best to accommodate them. Please contact me should you wish to discuss. (Please note that we cannot guarantee against the risk of cross-contamination with regards nuts/gluten)
Is it possible to have a private room?
The cost is based on a twin sharing basis (two guests per room). In order to be able to offer a private room the cost of the retreat would be significantly higher.
