‘Walking and Wellness Weekend’

If you’re in need of some time to truly switch off and to focus on your own well-being then this weekend could be exactly what’s needed.

This retreat takes us to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales for a weekend of nature’s finest. Spend your weekend walking with a group of like minded women through the beautiful wilds of the Yorkshire Dales and indulging in delicious plant based cuisine made especially for us by our very own private chef. ‘ If you love nothing better than a day spent out on the hills then this is without a doubt the retreat for you.  

What’s included in the package…

 

Two days of guided walking in the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. A chance to breath in that fresh air, reconnect with nature and totally unwind.

The Yorkshire Dales makes for the perfect place for a day spent walking in the great outdoors with it’s endless valleys, dry stone walls and meandering country lanes. Grab your walking boots and your camera and forget about everything else for two whole glorious days! 

This is a women only retreat designed with the intention of bringing together like minded individuals. So whether you are coming with a friend or as a solo traveler, know that you will be in good company for the duration of your stay with us.

 

 

Two nights full board accommodation at the family run Nidderdale Bunkhouse in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales overlooking the stunning scenery of Upper Nidderdale (which is a UK designated are of oustanding beauty).

Set high up on the hillside in it’s own grounds, Nidderdale bunkhouse is a beautiful old stone building which has been tastefully converted into a comfortable and spacious offering able to accommodate large groups. 

We will have exclusive use of the bunkhouse for the whole weekend.

 

 

All of your meals and snacks for the duration of your stay will be included in the price of the retreat and will be prepared by our very own private chef Gemma (also know as ‘That Vegan Chef‘).

Gemma is a culinary whizz when it comes to plant based cuisine and will be treating us to an array of delicious vegan options which are also gluten and refined sugar free!

Raw salted caramel shortbread or peanut butter and raspberry blondies anyone? This is plant based cooking at it’s best designed to leave you feeling as vibrant and alive as the food itself!

 

 

 

Meet Your Host:

Paula Lawson is a health and wellness coach and is the founder of Be Happy, Be Bright, Be You. She is passionate about helping women to realise their own self worth. Paula fell in love with hiking and adventure back in 2013 after a week long holiday in the Lake District and has never looked back.

Paula creates her retreats to offer other women the opportunity to experience the beauty of hiking/walking in a safe and supportive environment. Many women return year upon year to simply take some well needed quality time to reconnect to themselves.

Example Itinerary

Friday

Guests will arrive from 5.30pm onwards on the Friday. Take some time to get yourself settled in to your room and then join us in the lounge for a cuppa and a slice of one of Gemma’s delicious sweet creations. Meet and chat to your host, Paula as well as take some time to get to know your fellow guests.

At approx 7.30pm we will sit down together for a delicious meal prepared for us by our private chef, Gemma and toast to a fabulous weekend ahead. The rest of the evening is then yours to sit and relax, take a walk in the grounds or simply enjoy some quiet time with a good book.

Saturday

Saturday morning will begin with a delicious freshly prepared breakfast at around 8.00am.

After breakfast we will head out into the Yorkshire Dales for a full day of guided walking. If this is a new experience for you then you will quickly realise why it is one of my favourite past times and why I often find myself craving being back on the hills.

We will also be taking time to enjoy a leisurely packed lunch at some point, which Gemma will have prepared for us. Bring your camera as you’ll not want to miss the many fantastic photo opportunities.  We will head back to the bunkhouse for around 5.00pm so that you have plenty of time to freshen up and relax before dinner at 7.00pm.

Sunday

Sunday morning begins again with another delicious freshly prepared breakfast at around 8.00am. At around 9.30am we will head out for another glorious walk into the Yorkshire Dales.

We will enjoy another delicious packed lunch whilst out walking before heading back to the Bunkhouse for around 3.30pm. Once back at the bunkhouse we will enjoy our last meal together before we say our goodbyes and you leave us rested and refreshed. 

 

 

FAQ’s

Do I need to be an experienced walker to take part in the retreat?
Not at all. The walk is designed so that ladies who are new to walking may also participate. We would recommend that in order to fully enjoy the experience participants should be able to comfortably to walk 10miles on flat ground (approx 4 hours) without any real concerns. 

Will I need to bring any specialist equipment for the walking?
A recommended packing list will be provided but we would recommend that you ensure you have a comfortable pair of good quality walking boots, a good waterproof jacket and a rucksack for carrying your lunch as well as some water.

Will I need to provide my own bedding?

Clean sheets and pillows are provided but you will need to bring either a duvet or a sleeping bag with you. Duvets can be provided at an additional cost.

How will I get there?
By car:

The address for the bunkhouse is Ramsgill, Harrogate, HG3 5RH. The bunkhouse is well signposted from the main road and is visible up on the hillside as you approach. There are 8 parking spaces available directly at the bunkhouse and additional parking just off the main road should it be required.

By Train: 

The nearest train station is Harrogate with regular services from Leeds and York

By bus:

The Transdev Harrogate & District number 24 service runs regularly from Harrogate into the AONB through Lower Nidderdale to Pateley Bridge. Harrogate is easily accessible by bus from surrounding towns and cities such as York, Leeds, Ripon, Knaresborough, Wetherby, Bradford, Ilkley and Otley. Leeds, Harrogate, York, Ripon and Thirsk are also served by National Express coaches.

Are you able to cater for special dietary requirements?
All of the food available during your stay will prepared fresh and will be vegan/gluten free. Should you have any additional dietary requirements we will do our very best to accommodate them. Please contact me should you wish to discuss.

Early bird offer of £285.00 if booked before 5th November!

A deposit of £85.00 is required to secure your booking and the balance is payable no later than 8 weeks prior to the retreat. Please note this is a women only retreat.
