I have been on the fence about whether or not to write about this, simply because unless you have actually experienced it, it can be really hard to explain what kinesiology is. It’s hard enough trying to spell it let alone explain it!
Kinesiology in it’s basic form uses muscle testing to help figure out the root cause of a person’s symptoms. It can identify imbalances in the body’s structural, chemical, emotional or other energies. The belief is that the body can ultimately heal itself under the right conditions and through the correct application of kinesiology those conditions can very often be achieved.
I first came across kinesiology a couple of months ago in a book I was reading but it wasn’t until a friend of mine told me about their own positive experience of it that I decided to do a bit of digging.
Part of the reason I decided to explore this further is that despite giving up gluten, dairy and refined sugar, for a number of years now, I was still suffering from occasional digestive issues. And as someone who eats a fairly wholesome diet I was starting to get just a bit p**d off if I’m honest. I just couldn’t seem to figure out what was still causing the problem. I could go a day only eating fruit and veg and still find myself suffering. It was starting to look like an elimination diet might be my only option in figuring out what it was that was causing my regular bloating and reflux but the thought of having to drag something like that out for weeks was not at all appealing.
When I came across Katrina Woodrow I was really impressed with her knowledge, experience and the amount positive testimonials. After a quick e-mail exchange I had an appointment the following week.
Firstly, I can honestly say that Katrina is one of the nicest people I have ever met and she took the time to really listen and get to the root of my digestive problems that have plagued me on and off for years.
When we started the kinesiology itself Katrina straight away picked up that I had a hiatal hernia which was likely the root cause of my reflux. She very quickly put this right with some adjustment work. Katrina also found my candida levels were high and so advised me to cut out all sugar for 4 weeks and gave me a supplement to take.
We then went on to look at food allergy and intolerances. First of all Katrina confirmed what I already knew, in that I had a severe intolerance to gluten as well as a lactose intolerance. However, she also found that I couldn’t tolerate yeast, soy and peppers of all things. But when I thought about it the peppers made total sense as a plain salad could sometimes cripple me and I would always add raw peppers.
I left Katrina’s with three lots of supplements to support me over the following four weeks and a list of what to avoid.
It’s been four weeks now and I can honestly say for the first time in a LONG time my digestion feels like it’s finally sorted. I haven’t had any bloating, absolutely no relux and I generally feel so much better.
The problem with having digestive issues is that it effects the absorption of our nutrients and can have such a huge effect on our energy and how we feel.
I find kinesiology a fascinating subject and will definitely continue to use it in the future. As I said, it’s hard to explain how it works but anyone who has experienced the muscle testing will agree it just feels bizarre to lose the strength in your arm when you are exposed to something you are allergic or intolerant to.
Would love to hear if anyone else has had success with it…
